CONWAY, S.C. (WITN) – East Carolina lost to Coastal Carolina 1-0 Sunday night, officially eliminating them from the NCAA Tournament in the Conway Regionals.
Pitching for the Pirates was Bradley Zayac, who allowed only one run in his longest outing of the year (7.1 innings pitched).
Both teams were held to only five hits apiece, but the Chanticleers were able to bring a run home in the eighth, on a sacrifice fly to centerfield.
This ends a wild few weeks for the Pirates, after making a run as a 6-seed to win the AAC Tournament and secure the auto-bid, and then coming up just a hair short in the Regional stage to the host team.
