HICKORY — It won’t count in the South Atlantic Conference standings, but Catawba lost 7-4 at Lenoir-Rhyne in a non-league game of regional significance on Tuesday.
The 16th-ranked Bears (32-6) trailed 3-0 early, but turned the game around with a four-run fifth.
Catawba, ranked 23rd, fell to 26-11.
Catawba got four strong innings from Braedon Major. Seth Sharpe relieved in the fifth and took the loss.
Nathan Chrismon (South Rowan) had two hits and scored two runs. Sam Hunter had two hits and stole three bases.
Catawba will look to bounce back in a weekend SAC series at Wingate.
