College baseball rankings: Texas falls from top spot after series loss to Florida

Texas baseball is no longer the No. 1 team in the country.

The Longhorns lost their second successive SEC series over the weekend, dropping two out of three games at home to Florida. As a result, they relinquished their grip on the top spot in the polls.

Texas fell from No. 1 to No. 3 in the D1 Baseball rankings, with LSU ascending to the top spot. D1 Baseball also ranked Florida State ahead of the Longhorns.

The Longhorns had been ranked second in the nation by Baseball America last week. There, they dropped all the way to No. 6. LSU is also the No. 1 team in the country in Baseball America’s poll after taking two out of three from Arkansas over the weekend.

Coach Jim Schlossnagle’s team heads on the road to play Oklahoma for a three-game series beginning on Thursday. The Longhorns (40-10) can clinch a share of the SEC title with a win or an Arkansas loss. The Razorbacks host Tennessee to conclude the regular season.
