It’s time for more fresh college baseball rankings as we hit the week of April 28, including a new poll from D1Baseball!
On Monday, the folks at D1Baseball unveiled their latest, with Texas holding onto its top spot in the country after a weekend sweep of rival Texas A&M. Though every game was decided by 1 run, it was another statement weekend for the Longhorns, giving the program a 3rd straight week atop the D1Baseball poll.
After the Longhorns, it was a week full of shakeups throughout the top 15. LSU, previously No. 7 in the country, jumped up to No. 2 after a weekend series win over Tennessee in Baton Rouge. North Carolina (from No. 8 to No. 4) and Oregon (from No. 13 to No. 6) also produced big-time jumps this week.
With that kind of movement, some teams experienced a steep drop in the poll, including a couple of SEC powerhouses. Arkansas checked in at No. 11 and Tennessee came in at No. 12 this week, meaning both the Razorbacks and Vols dropped 6 spots after both suffered series defeats.
It shapes up to be an interesting race down the final stretch of the season before we set the table for the NCAA Tournament and the outlook for the College World Series in Omaha. Despite the recent movement, Tony Vitello and the Vols are still the favorite in the latest College World Series odds, coming in at +450 to repeat, according to DraftKings.
