College baseball: Ridgewater drops a game at Century

WHITE BEAR LAKE —WHITE BEAR LAKE — The Ridgewater baseball team played its first game of the season in Minnesota on Thursday, traveling to Century College to face the Wood Ducks.

Century beat Ridgewater 5-1.

Connor Larsen smacked a three-run homer and Adrian Warcken followed with a two-run home run in Century’s five-run first inning to beat the Warriors. Larsen is a freshman from Spring Lake Park. Warcken is a sophomore from Wayzata.

Nathan Bunyard (2-0) allowed one hit over six innings, striking out eight and walking four, for the Wood Ducks. He’s a freshman right-hander from Maria Carillo High School in Santa Rosa, California.

Joe Liebl took the loss on the mound for the Warriors. Liebl (0-2) is a freshman left-hander from Wabasso.

The Wood Ducks now have a 10-8 record. Ridgewater is now 2-7.

The Warriors are next scheduled to play two games beginning at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Riverland Community College in Austin.
