College basketball analyst details why players should want to play for Louisville’s Pat Kelsey

The 2024-2025 season has already delivered plenty of memorable moments in what’s been an eventful first half. Teams that struggled early on are starting to find their rhythm, while those that got off to hot starts are beginning to cool down, slipping in the latest March Madness projections. Whether it’s a team finding their footing or facing adversity, now is the time to get hot and make a run.

There are the teams everyone expects to make the March Tournament, and then there are the underdogs fighting until the final week of the season for a chance to sneak in.

One team that’s looking solid right now is the Louisville Cardinals. It’s hard to believe, considering the Cardinals went 8-24 last year and were even worse the year before. However, Louisville seems to have found their guy in head coach Pat Kelsey. Kelsey has turned the program around in impressive fashion.

In his first year, Kelsey landed Louisville’s first five-star recruit since 2018. He’s also led the Cardinals to a nine-game winning streak, which ranks among the top five in the nation.

What stands out most about Kelsey is his energy and passion for the game. He is the definition of a “player’s coach.” Analyst John Fanta highlighted why recruits and transfer portal players should want to play for Kelsey.

“If I’m a player, I want to play at Louisville,” Fanta said on a podcast. “He lets his kids go out there instinctively and play.”

Kelsey is quickly becoming one of the hottest names in college basketball, and behind only a few other programs, Louisville is one of the hottest teams in the country.

The Cardinals will look to extend their winning streak later tonight as they welcome Wake Forest, who desperately needs a big win to bolster their March Madness hopes.
