The event giving fans a chance to watch both teams wrestle at the same time and introduces some fans to the sport of girls’ wrestling, which is rapidly gaining popularity.

Both General brown girls coach Joe Jewett and Indian River girls coach Scarlett De Witt are excited for their wrestlers to showcase their talents in front of a packed gymnasium.

“I’m certainly excited to see how that’s gonna go. How the fans are gonna feel. It’s amazing to see how women’s wrestling has evolved over the last several years. Especially the big push this year to get an official women’s wrestling league. You can literally see we have a team of 13 girls, which is incredible for a first-year team,” said Scarlett De Witt.

“Girls wrestling is coming new to this area. We’re the first 2 teams in the Frontier League to have a girl’s team. This will be our second time that we’ve matched up this year. To be able to do it in our home gym and have senior night for both the boys and the girls, it’s kind of a neat little event that hasn’t happened yet,” said Joe Jewett.
