There is just over a month left in the regular season and the postseason picture is growing clearer by the day. On Thursday, CBS Sports’ Gary Parrish updated his college basketball Top 25 And 1 Rankings.
As usual, the SEC led all conferences with nine teams in Parrish’s updated rankings. Nonetheless, the SEC wasn’t the only prestigious conference that Parrish paid respect to. The Big Ten and ACC each had five teams in Parrish’s latest rankings.
With so many midweek outcomes to cover, let’s dive into Parrish’s latest college basketball Top 25 And 1 Rankings.
Previous Ranking: 1
Auburn finally fell in SEC play last week, losing 90-81 to Florida. Nonetheless, Parrish hasn’t lost confidence in the Tigers. Auburn proved him right on Tuesday with a convincing 80-68 triumph over Vanderbilt.
Denver Jones led the charge for the Tigers, tallying a game-high 21 points while shooting 5-7 from beyond the arc. In no surprise, Johni Broome was also excellent, racking up 17 points and seven rebounds against the Commodores.

Alabama also retained its spot in Parrish’s rankings this week after downing Texas in blowout 103-80 fashion on Tuesday. The Crimson Tide shot 65% from the field in the first half to secure an 18-point lead at halftime and never looked back.
Jarin Stevenson led Alabama with 22 points on 4-5 shooting from 3-point range. He was far from the only Alabama player with a hot hand. The Crimson Tide shot 17-29 (58.6%) from downtown in the victory.
Previous Ranking: 3
Florida is on a three-game winning streak and looks like one of the best teams in the country right now. Most recently, the Gators handily defeated Mississippi State 81-68 on Tuesday.
Florida was still without Alijah Martin, who also missed Florida’s win over Auburn due to a hip injury. Martin is Florida’s second-leading scorer this season, averaging 15.3 points per game. Florida will only become more dangerous when he returns.
Previous Ranking: 4
Duke strolled to a 78-57 triumph over California on Wednesday. Cooper Flagg continued to look the part of a frontrunner for the National Player of the Year in the win. He finished the game with 27 points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals.
It was a bounce-back win for the Blue Devils, who finally suffered a loss in conference play last week after beginning the ACC slate on a 13-0 run. Duke will head to the West Coast this week as it prepares to face off against Stanford on Saturday.

Houston has been the team to beat in the Big 12 this season. Baylor failed to down the Cougars on Monday, falling 76-65. As usual, Houston’s defense was pivotal in the win.
The Cougars squeezed 15 turnovers out of Baylor and converted the turnovers into 28 points. Houston has the best defense in the country this season, only allowing 57.3 points per game.
Previous Ranking: 7
Despite falling to Kentucky 75-64 on Tuesday, Tennessee actually ascended one spot in Parrish’s latest rankings. It was the Volunteers’ second loss to the Wildcats this season but Parrish isn’t concerned for Tennessee’s postseason hopes.
In fairness, Tennessee guard Chaz Lanier had subpar showings in both of Tennessee’s losses to Kentucky. In the Volunteers’ latest loss, Lanier shot just 3-13 from the field and a rare 0-7 from deep.
Previous Ranking: 8
Texas A&M is picking up steam in the final stretch of the regular season. On Tuesday, the Aggies comfortably defeated Georgia 69-53. They have now won four games in a row.
In the win over the Bulldogs, the Aggies nearly doubled Georgia’s offensive rebound total. Texas A&M didn’t allow its efforts to go to waste. The Aggies finished with 17 second-chance points compared to Georgia’s mere two.

Iowa State lost some respect from analysts around the nation after suffering three straight losses between Jan. 27 and Feb. 3. However, the Cyclones have slowly clawed their way back into the experts’ good graces, most recently defeating UCF 77-65.
It was a team effort by the Cyclones, who had four players score double figures. Keshon Gilbert stuffed the stat sheet in the win, collecting a team-high 15 points, seven rebounds and four assists.
Previous Ranking: 10
Purdue is the highest-rated Big Ten team in Parrish’s updated rankings. Alas, the Boilermakers are far from infallible. On Tuesday, Purdue was upset 75-73 by No. 20 Michigan.
Despite erupting for 24 points, six rebounds and five assists, Purdue star Braden Smith was unable to sink the game-winning 3-point attempt against the Wolverines. Purdue will have a chance to redeem itself on Saturday when it faces off against No. 16 Wisconsin.

After defeating Marquette and UConn in back-to-back games, St. John’s looked like an unstoppable locomotive. However, the Red Storm’s glory was short-lived and they ultimately fell 73-71 to Villanova on Wednesday.
The outing was St. John’s first regular-season game as a top-10 team in the AP Top 25 since Feb. 27, 1999, also a loss at Villanova. Nevertheless, the Red Storm are still firmly in the hunt for their first Big East regular season title since 1992.
