The next men’s head basketball coach at South Arkansas College will be Eric Collins of Augusta, Maine.
A Maine native and U.S. Army veteran, Collins has more than five years of coaching experience at the high school and collegiate levels in the northeast. He currently is the associate head coach at the University of Maine-Augusta, which competes in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association.
Collins said that the pillars of his coaching philosophy are passion, leadership, culture and accountability
“I coach to build men—not just players. My mission is to lead through relationships, set a shared standard of excellence, and create a culture where young men grow—as athletes, students, and people,” Collins said. “My family and I are pumped to become part of the SouthArk and El Dorado communities.”
SouthArk athletic director Jenny Sanders said that she is enthusiastic about having Collins, his wife Brandi Collins and his children in the Star Force.
“Coach Eric Collins brings immense passion and excitement to the campus and to the basketball court,” she said. “I am excited to see the lasting impact he will have on the young men he coaches, on our campus, and within our community.”
He is the third head coach in SouthArk’s history, taking over for Cam Robinson, who was in the role for three seasons.
Collins will start full-time on July 1, but is recruiting to fill his roster now.
