College basketball’s top 10 coaches: Jon Scheyer, Todd Golden rising ahead of 2025 Final Four

It’s a new era of college basketball, as the five winningest coaches in the sport’s history retired since the start of the decade. The head coaches of this season’s Final Four teams entered the NCAA Tournament with just three national semifinal berths between them, with Todd Golden (Florida) and Jon Scheyer (Duke) making their first appearances this weekend in San Antonio.

Scheyer and Golden are among the youngest coaches in Division I basketball at 37 and 39, respectively. Both have established themselves as winners at the highest level college basketball has to offer, but only one made our annual, year-end list of top 10 coaches. However, the end result of March Madness could shake up the rankings heading into next season.

This ranking is subjective and subject to change, but it emphasizes a coach’s total win-loss record, regular and postseason accolades and recent on-court success. Recruiting prowess via high school and the transfer portal was also considered.
