The analyst had positive things to say about the Huskers heading into the 2025 season.

This week, McElroy commented that Nebraska’s quarterback play, transfer wide receivers, and offensive line additions were reasons they could take the next step in year three under Matt Rhule. The talent Dylan Raiola brought to the table in his freshman season was noticeable. All told, he recorded 2,819 passing yards, 13 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions.

At the receiver position, the Huskers focused on adding names from the transfer portal. Nyziah Hunter and Dane Key are two of the more prominent additions to the position. The Kentucky and California products figure to be key pieces in the offense. Key recorded 47 receptions for 715 yards and two touchdowns.  Hunter recorded 40 receptions for 578 yards and five touchdowns.

In addition, Nebraska was able to make moves on the line, and tackles Rocco Spindler and Elijah Pritchett should help strengthen the line. All told, Nebraska was able to make some key veteran moves that could help them take the next step. McElroy stated his case.

It will undoubtedly be interesting to see if the Huskers can take that next step. Things are certainly lining up for them to be able to play at a high level in 2024. The Huskers have been known to garner a ton of offseason hype before. Now, they need to build on it.
