College Football Coach Rankings – Where Does Mizzou’s Drinkwitz Stand?

Welcome to the Morning Commute

Today we’re talking about college football coaches, and their perception on a national basis. C’mon, it’s a slow news time, so why not?

Actually, this is one of the most inane acts one could engage in during the endless off-season, but it gives fans something to talk about. With that, Bruce Feldman and Stewart Mandel of The Athletic issued their individual takes on the top-25 college coaches.

Neither scribe had Mizzou’s Eliah Drinkwitz among the top-25, but they both did list him as having “just missed” so they think he’s doing quite fine and likely need to see another solid year from the Tigers before including him among the hierarchy.

If you have a subscription to that publication, you can see the rankings here and here.

I’m sure Drink will be utterly devastated by the snub. But seriously, he is the type who seems to like to make people eat their words, so if this helps keep the fire lit for him personally, then let’s get after it in 2025!

We get our first taste of off-season brain candy recently, when ESPN’s Bill Connelly — the founder of this very website — dropped his first batch of 2025 season projections. Connelly invented SP+, an all-encompassing predictive team metric that has gone mainstream, much like DVOA for NFL teams or KenPom ratings in college hoops.

The Godfather rates Mizzou’s returning production pretty highly, so be sure to read Dan’s piece to get the scoop!…

The good news first: This was the most productive tight end receiving year of the entire Eli Drinkwitz tenure! The bad news: it could have been so much more.

We’ve all seen the potential displayed by rising junior Brett Norfleet, but the kid just can’t stay healthy. Here’s hoping for a clean bill of health in 2025!…

In front of the second biggest crowd this season, 3,994, and with swaths of beloved friends and family on hand to celebrate Mizzou Gymnastics’ eight seniors, the Tigers PUT ON A SHOW, delighting the crowd from start to finish with high scores — SO MANY HIGH SCORES! — dazzling tumbling passes, enthusiastic facial expressions, (some) stuck landings, and just… awesomeness.

Gotta love the results – AND Karen’s passion for giving this team the coverage they deserve…

Ending the regular season on a three-game losing streak, Mizzou Basketball is still ranked, but the Tigers have slipped six spots to No. 21 in the latest AP Top 25 poll and three spots to No. 22 in the coaches’ poll.

With the season wrapped up and Pingeton heading out the door, the question plaguing Mizzou women’s basketball fans is now the head coaching vacancy. Read all about it from Dylan.

Who is next in line to take over the women’s basketball program? Here’s a list of some prime candidates to consider
