College Football Playoff Foundation unveils middle school’s new broadcast center

Ohio State takes on Notre Dame in the 2025 College Football Playoff National Championship coming up on Monday — but no matter what happens on the field at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, a group of local students are already the big winners.

This morning, students and staff at Martin Luther King, Jr. Middle School in Grant Park celebrated the opening of their new broadcast center, a $50,000 project completed as part of the College Football Playoff Foundation’s Extra Yard Makeover initiative. The nonprofit foundation was created in 2014 as the community engagement arm of the College Football Playoff, and operates with a mission to support Pre-K through 12th grade education across the country. Leaders say the foundation is the largest sports entity dedicated to supporting educators — and part of that is giving “makeovers” to classrooms and other learning environments, like the broadcast center at Martin Luther King, Jr. Middle School.

The College Football Playoff Foundation hosted a ribbon-cutting for the new broadcast center this morning, welcoming in community members to see the new space — and, of course, Good Day Atlanta was there, too, chatting with students and staff about the impact it’s expected to make.
