Ohio State’s defense has just been too strong throughout this playoff run, and the Buckeyes’ offense has been very impressive. If Notre Dame’s defense can step up, it could make it interesting, but the Fighting Irish just don’t have the weapons on offense to keep up. Ohio State will win its first national championship since 2014.”

Though I initially selected Notre Dame to be the National Champion, the way Ohio State has elevated their play after their disappointing upset loss at the hands of Michigan has swayed me enough to back Ohio State while laying the 7.5 points.”

The Fighting Irish will put up a fight, but there just won’t be enough fight to hold the Buckeyes at bay. The game will be close at halftime, but Ohio State ultimately pulls away in the second half to send Columbus into a frenzy and claim its ninth national championship.”

I’m not sure Ohio State will beat Notre Dame vertically either. They have better playmakers all around the field, something that hasn’t been quite as clear in the Irish’s first two CFP games. It was a thing against Penn State, who ran for over 200 yards and nearly five yards per carry, but Drew Allar was horrible. Ohio State should win this game. The Buckeyes won the first national championship in the four-team era a decade ago, and they win the first national title of the 12-team era this year.”
