College football rankings: ACC teams in updated Coaches Poll, AP Top 25 after Week 10

As the college football season chugs on, the ACC continues to find its place in the college football landscape.

The team to watch in the conference has been and remains Miami, which won with a lopsided score of 53-31 over Duke in a score that doesn’t reflect how competitive the game truly was. Cam Ward bolstered his ever-lengthening Heisman resume, completing 25 of 41 passes for 400 yards and five touchdowns, while wide receiver Alex Restrepo was again his favorite target at 146 yards and three touchdowns on eight catches.

In what appeared to be the game of the week heading into Saturday’s schedule of games, SMU (8-1, 5-0 in ACC play) demolished a once-unbeaten Pitt team, downing the Panthers 48-25. SMU quarterback Kevin Jennings completed 17 of 25 passes for 306 yards and two touchdowns, while running back Brashard Smith added 23 runs for 161 yards and two scores of his own.

An even bigger shock in conference play occurred in Clemson, where Dabo Swinney’s Tigers were soundly defeated by Jeff Brohm’s Louisville Cardinals 33-21. Clemson had a 7-3 lead late in the first quarter, and never led again following a Tyler Shough 4-yard touchdown 10 minutes into the second quarter.

Whether the Tigers can rebound and make the CFP following the frustrating defeat remains to be seen. Until then, here’s where the Tigers — and the remainder of the ACC — slots into the Week 11 college football rankings.
