11. Ole Miss Rebels (10-3)
The Rebels were motived to prove they belonged in the playoff and waxed a talent-depleted Duke team in the Gator Bowl. That was one of the lone late-season highlights for a team that wanted more in 2024, however.
12. Clemson Tigers (10-4)
Winning the ACC title was as good as it got for the Tigers, who were blistered by the three SEC teams they played (including Texas in the first round of the playoff). The late-game win over SMU in Charlotte was Clemson’s best.
13. SMU Mustangs (11-3)
Speaking of the Mustangs, Kevin Jennings and the SMU offensive line ran into a Penn State buzzsaw in the first round of the playoff and never had a chance on the road. Regardless, an 11-win season during Year 1 in the ACC is much to build on.
