College football rankings: SEC teams in updated Coaches Poll, AP Top 25 after Week 9

The Southeastern Conference avoided any drastic upsets for the first time in several weeks.

With one notable exception, perhaps, playing out in College Station, Texas.

The conference’s marquee game of the week between No. 8 LSU and No. 14 Texas A&M didn’t disappoint, with the Aggies outscoring the Tigers 31-6 in the second half en route to a 38-23 victory. Mike Elko and Co. trailed LSU 17-7 heading into halftime, but, spurred by backup quarterback Marcel Reed, scored on five straight second-half drives, including four that ended in touchdowns.

Elsewhere, No. 25 Vanderbilt almost did the unthinkable again, falling 27-24 to No. 6 Texas in a game that potentially hinged on a failed onside kick attempt.

Kalen DeBoer led-Alabama silenced the outside noise a bit on Saturday, as the 15th-ranked Crimson Tide got back on track against Missouri. In their first meeting as SEC opponents, No. 18 Ole Miss defended its home turf and took down Oklahoma by a score of 26-14.
