Recruiting background: A 6-foot-4, 290-pound defensive lineman out of Richardson (Texas) High School, Jaimeon Winfield committed to the Trojans over offers from the likes of Texas, Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Texas A&M and Washington, among others. USC co-defensive coordinator and defensive line coach Eric Henderson was the lead recruiter for the Lone Star State product, who becomes the 15th member of the Trojans’ top-ranked 2026 recruiting class. In 12 games as a junior, Winfield recorded 45 tackles, 22 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks, 25 quarterback hurries, three pass breakups and two blocked field goals.
Abbreviated scouting report: “Wide-bodied interior defensive lineman who displays consistent explosion off the snap with heavy-handed point-of-attack power. Uses leverage to his advantage, including when attacked by double teams. … Big and strong enough to play gaps, while functionally athletic and twitchy enough to make penetration plays. Dangerous upfield juice; ceiling as a pass rusher should rise with expanded move set development.” — 247Sports scouting analyst Gabe Brooks
