College football recruiting rankings: Alabama leaps Ohio State for No. 1 class in 2025 as Signing Day nears

The countdown is on for the Early Signing Period in the 2025 college football recruiting class, and there is a new No. 1 in the team rankings. After steadily closing the gap in recent months, Alabama has overtaken Ohio State for the top spot, with four weeks remaining until commitments can become official. The new start date for the early period was moved up to Dec. 4 this cycle, putting added urgency for teams to finalize their respective recruiting hauls.

The SEC continues to dominate high school recruiting, with the Big Ten firmly in second place among conferences. There are a dozen SEC schools that make up the current top-25 classes in the rankings, while the Big Ten owns seven of those spots. Just six teams outside the so-called “Power Two” are represented at this point in the top 25.

So, which teams have the edge in the recruiting race as the final weeks get crossed out ahead of Signing Day?
