College football recruiting: Where a variety of programs in the South stand as 2026 class heats up

Recruiting is heating up for the class of 2026. With spring ball underway, prospects are hitting the road once again for big recruiting weekends and unofficial visits.

Diving into the region that includes schools from Alabama, Kentucky, Mississippi and Tennessee, let’s take a look at where things stand with some of the high-profile programs in each state.

TENNESSEE

The Vols have secured eight commits and rank sixth in the industry-generated 247Sports Composite Team Rankings.

Greensboro (N.C.) Grimsley five-star quarterback Faizon Brandon, the nation’s No. 1 overall prospect, someone who many believe can push for the starting job upon arrival.

Another top commit is No. 6 offensive tackle Gabriel Osenda out of Chattanooga (Tenn.) Baylor. The 6-foot-7, 330-pounder is a massive individual who stood out at the 2025 Navy All-American Bowl as an underclassman.
