The road for the 2024 college football season ends on Monday.
Two teams remain standing after the regular season and the inaugural 12-team College Football Playoff games have been set. No. 7 Notre Dame (14-1) and No. 8 Ohio State (13-2 will square off at 7:30 p.m. inside Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta for a shot at a national championship.
The Buckeyes are seeking their first title since 2014, while the Fighting Irish last claimed the title of top team in the nation in 1988. This will be the ninth matchup between the programs, but it marks the third straight season the teams will meet. Ohio State leads the all-time series 6-2, including six in a row.

Both teams enter the championship game after being seen as unlikely to do so at various points this season. The Fighting Irish lost to Northern Illinois in a pay game in Week 2, while the Buckeyes were upset by rival Michigan in the regular season’s final week.
Ohio State has rolled through the playoffs with wins over No. 9 Tennessee, No. 1 Oregon and No. 5 Texas. Notre Dame has wins over No. 11 Indiana, No. 2 Georgia and No. 6 Penn State.
