The first of two College Football Playoff semifinals has arrived.
The first of two games determining the 2024 college football season national championship will be played in the Orange Bowl on Friday in Miami between No. 7 Notre Dame (13-1) and No. 6 Penn State (13-2) at 7:30 p.m. CT.
The winner of the matchup will play the winner of the matchup between No. 8 Ohio State and No. 5 Texas. Both teams will square off Friday in the Cotton Bowl in Dallas. The remaining CFP field does not feature any conference winners or automatic bids.

The Nittany Lions and Fighting Irish last played in 2007, when Penn State defeated Notre Dame 31-10 in State College, Pennsylvania. The programs are 9-9-1 all-time in their series history.
Notre Dame defeated No. 2 Georgia 23-10 in its quarterfinal to reach 13 wins for the first time in program history. Meanwhile, Penn State beat No. 3 Boise State, shutting down star running back Ashton Jeanty, proving how strong its defense is.
