College football’s traditional signing day is today. It’s impact has lessened in recent years as more and more high school football players take advantage of the signing period in December.
In the Stark County area, just two seniors are expected to sign today with NCAA Division I programs after 13 signed with their future FBS or FCS colleges in December.
Here’s a look at today’s expected signees as well as those who signed in December.

Antonio Martin, Green, Robert Morris commit
Three-time All-Ohio performer was one of the area’s top two-way players, averaging 17.9 yards and scoring 10 touchdowns on 41 catches at receiver and intercepting five passes as a defensive back.

Kam Montgomery, Canton McKinley, Eastern Kentucky commit
The transfer from Texas led Bulldogs to share of third straight Federal League championship in his only season in Canton, throwing for league-best 2,109 yards and accounting for 20 total TDs.

Jacques Carter, Massillon, Southern Illinois signee
One of the area’s top big-play threats as a receiver, averaging 19.3 yards on 29 catches with eight TDs.
Charlie Christopher, Lake, Ohio University signee
Tackling machine at linebacker who produced remarkable all-around senior season that included him garnering player of the year for Repository Stark County and Federal League.
Nolan Davenport, Massillon, Wisconsin signee
All-Ohio tackle was a dominant force the last two years after making the switch from tight end, anchoring a Tigers O-line when they won their first OHSAA state title in 2023.
Ja’Meir Gamble, Massillon, Mercyhurst (Pa.) signee
Led Stark County area in rushing (1,636 yards at 8.7 a carry) and tied for the lead in scoring (20 TDs) in gaining 1,977 all-purpose yards, highlighted by a 290-yard rushing game against Legacy (Tx.).
Dior Garner, Canton McKinley, Bowling Green signee
Quick, powerful defensive lineman who totaled 75 tackles, 20 tackles for loss, 13 QB pressures and seven sacks for Federal League co-champion Bulldogs.
Lukas Gilland, Sandy Valley, Saint Francis (Pa.) signee
Explosive skill player caught eight touchdown passes; scored TDs on kickoff and punt returns; and accumulated 1,156 all-purpose yards.
Tyler Hackenbracht, Massillon, Toledo signee
A playmaker in the secondary at safety and in the return game, totaling 113 tackles and four special teams TDs (including three in one half of a playoff game), while also averaging 37.8 yards as a punter.
Nino Hill, Canton McKinley, Buffalo signee
Patient, instinctive runner who gained 1,032 yards and 13 touchdowns as senior for Federal League-champion McKinley.
Ryan Lippe, Lake, Air Force signee
Big, powerful presence on defensive line, totaled 49 tackles, 14 tackles for loss and two forced fumbles.
Dante McClellan, Canton McKinley, Missouri signee
Remarkable all-around athlete who totaled 99 tackles, 20 tackles for loss, three sacks and two interceptions in being named Division I Northeast Inland District Defensive Player of the Year.
Vito McConnell, Massillon, Miami (Ohio) signee
A defensive leader at linebacker the last two years for the Tigers, who allowed just 12.2 points a game this past season after winning state title in 2023.
Jonathan Stangl, Canton Central Catholic, Miami (Ohio) signee
Dominating All-Ohio player whom head coach Jeff Lindesmith called the second-best lineman he’s worked with in 39 years of coaching.
Michael Wright Jr., Massillon, Youngstown State signee
Disruptive nose tackle made 15.5 tackles for loss in 2024 and is Massillon’s career leader in sacks and tackles for loss who also excelled at times as a short-yardage fullback, especially on state title team.
