Northwestern might have received a failing grade if not for landing Stone, a former starter at SMU who will instantly elevate the Wildcats’ quarterback room. Stone threw for 3,197 and 28 touchdowns with six interceptions in 2023 and is a threat to win the starting job over Jack Lausch, who tossed seven touchdowns to eight interceptions as a redshirt sophomore last season. Still, Northwestern needed bodies all over the roster after a 4-8 finish in 2024 and mustered just nine portal commitments.
