College football transfer portal: Teams with most additions for 2025 as winter window closes

A handful of college football teams entered the winter college football transfer portal window looking to overhaul their rosters for the 2025 season, and at least 11 teams will exit the month of December with at least 15 new transfers on the roster. Five teams rank atop the list of most portal additions, with 17 apiece thus far.

Ole Miss and Arkansas have each added at least 15 new transfers early this cycle, a stark contrast to how other SEC programs have approached the portal. The SEC’s three College Football Playoff participants — Texas, Tennessee and Georgia — have added three or fewer transfers in the winter window. Georgia is one of two Power Four programs with zero transfer additions as of Friday, Dec. 27.

The winter window of activity for the college football transfer portal is starting to wind down. It opened Dec. 9 and closes Saturday, Dec. 28. Just six of the top 50 players in the portal are uncommitted as of Dec. 27. The spring window opens for 10 days, April 16-25.
