The 2024 college football season has reached the final weekend of the regular season. There are plenty of intriguing games, including Texas-Texas A&M, Ohio State-Michigan, Notre Dame-USC and, of course, Penn State-Maryland. So let’s make some picks.
Last week, we weren’t terrible, going 2-3 against the spread on our big board picks. Our “best bet” was a miss. Miami didn’t cover the first-quarter spread — but did cover the overall spread.
Through eight weeks, we’re 27-31-1 on our normal picks ATS and 1-3 on best bets. Some work left to do to get above .500 on the season.
Here are my picks for Week 14. As always, tail (or fade) responsibly.

Michigan at No. 2 Ohio State (-20.5)
Saturday, noon, FOX
Ohio State just overwhelmed Indiana, and Michigan is awful. I know it’s “The Game.” But the Buckeyes have been miles better. No reason to waver from that. The pick: Ohio State -20.5
No. 6 Miami (-10.5) at Syracuse
Saturday, 3:30 p.m., ESPN
Miami has flirted with disaster all season. Now, the Hurricanes have to survive the dome and a Syracuse offense that can keep up. As long as Kyle McCord doesn’t throw a few pick-sixes, I think the Orange can make this one uncomfortable. The pick: Syracuse +10.5
No. 6 Notre Dame (-7.5) at USC
Saturday, 3:30 p.m., CBS
Notre Dame has been dominant, winning nine consecutive games by double digits. I think that streak comes to an end. USC isn’t the CFP contender some thought it’d be. But the Trojans, unlike Navy and Army, have the athletes to match. Notre Dame just needs a win — not style points — to reach the CFP. The pick: USC +7.5
Maryland at No. 4 Penn State (-24.5)
Saturday, 3:30 p.m., Big Ten Network
Excluding the fluky 2020 season, Penn State has won its last six meetings with Maryland by an average of 40 points. James Franklin, the Terps’ former head coach-in-waiting, has always kept his foot on the gas against Maryland when possible. The pick: Penn State -24.5
No. 3 Texas (-5.5) at No. 20 Texas A&M
Saturday, 7:30 p.m., ABC
Quinn Ewers hasn’t looked right while dealing with an ankle issue. And the last time he faced a defense as good as Texas A&M’s the Longhorns lost to Georgia. I expect the Aggies’ star edge rushers, specifically Nic Scourton, to keep this rivalry game close. The pick: Texas A&M +5.5
BEST BET
Purdue at No. 10 Indiana (-29.5)
Saturday, 7 p.m., FS1
Purdue is the worst team in the power conferences, and Indiana is coming off a loss to Ohio State. If we’ve learned anything from first-year coach Curt Cignetti, it’s that he’s all gas and no brakes, running it up on teams for fun. In a rivalry game, I expect the Hoosiers to come out angry and leave no doubt that they should be in the CFP. The pick: Indiana -29.5
