
When the Big Ten and SEC collectively dominate college football’s offseason conversation, it shouldn’t come as a shock those two leagues litter the list of the most meaningful games across the 2025 schedule. Many of the nation’s top quarterbacks lead contenders after these two leagues, along with Notre Dame, carried the College Football Playoff.
With an extended SEC schedule and further playoff expansion gaining more traction this offseason, the only points that remain imperative to competing for championships is strength of record and quality wins. The selection committee’s goal is to select the best teams for inclusion, but record matters and number of losses took a toll on some just outside the final bracket.
Watering down the regular season is not what college football wants and there’s plenty of showdowns in 2025 that will provide a playoff-like feel long before final deliberations are made on Selection Sunday.
