UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Comedian Keegan-Michael Key will be the celebrity guest picker for Saturday’s edition of College GameDay, ESPN has announced.
The popular college football pregame show will be at Penn State prior to a noon kickoff between the No. 3 Nittany Lions and No. 4 Ohio State.
Key is a native of Southfield, Michigan, who attended University of Detroit Mercy. He earned his masters degree at Penn State.
He is well-known for taking part in the popular sketch series, “Key & Peele” in which he starred alongside Jordan Peele. Key has also been featured in movies such as, “Horrible Bosses 2″ and, “Pitch Perfect 2.”
Each week, College GameDay picks a game site to host its show. Saturday will mark Ohio State’s 61st appearance.
The Buckeyes are 40-20 when playing at the College GameDay location, which includes a loss at Oregon earlier this year. Ohio State’s 40 wins are tops in the country.
In the final segment each week, the panel — Desmond Howard, Nick Saban, Pat McAfee, Lee Corso and Kirk Herbstreit — joins the guest picker in choosing winners from various games across the country.
Inside history between Ohio State and Penn State
College GameDay will be at Ohio State vs. Penn State for the 13th time, marking the most appearances on the show for a matchup.
It’s a testament to the storied rivalry between the programs. While Ohio State has won the last seven meetings and 24 of 38 all-time, the teams are often among the best in the country.
Saturday marks the 12th meeting in which both teams are ranked in the top 10.
It’s only the second meeting ever with both teams in the top five — OSU won 38-7 in 1996.
