The first weekend of the College World Series is wrapping up.
That means the eight-team CWS field that went to Omaha, Nebraska to play for a national championship will see its first team sent home by the end of the night.
Two of the top five national seeds that advanced to Charles Schwab Field Omaha are in action on Sunday, June 15 in No. 8 Oregon State and No. 13 Coastal Carolina, with the winner of the Beavers-Chanticleers game advancing to the CWS semifinals game.

On top of the Oregon State vs. Coastal Carolina winners bracket game, Day 3 of the CWS is also the first day in Omaha that an elimination bracket game will be played. In that elimination game, it will be Arizona vs. Louisville, two teams that lost their opening round games in the eighth and ninth innings, respectively.
By rule of the CWS, the loser of Arizona vs. Louisville will be eliminated from contention for a national championship, while the winner will advance further in the elimination bracket.

Kicking off Day 3 competition at the CWS is the elimination bracket game between Arizona and Louisville, which lost to Coastal Carolina and Louisville, respectively, on Friday, June 13.
The headliner of Day 3 at the CWS is the winners’ bracket between Coastal Carolina and Oregon State. The Chanticleers extended their nation-leading win streak to 24 consecutive games with a 7-4 win over Arizona thanks to RBIs doubles from Wells Sykes and Blake Barthol. Meanwhile, a wacky top of the ninth by Oregon State turned a 3-1 lead against Louisville into a 3-3 game going into the bottom of the ninth. Then Gavin Turley laced a double down the left field line for a walk-off hit to put the Beavers one step closer to the semifinals.

Who is in the College World Series?
The eight-team CWS field features teams from six different conferences (SEC, Big 12, Big Ten, ACC, Missouri Valley Conference and Sun Belt) and an independent in Oregon State. It is the most diverse field in recent CWS history, and will be trimmed down to seven teams by the end of Sunday, June 15.

When is the College World Series?
The CWS began on June 13 at Charles Schwab Field Omaha in Omaha, Nebraska. June 15 is the first day of elimination bracket play at the CWS.
