In anticipation of the 2024 NFL Draft, which will be held April 24 – 26 at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin, here’s a compilation of various league experts’ predictions about what the Washington Commanders will do with the No. 29 overall pick. Check back weekly until the draft for more updates.

Expert: Charles Davis, NFL.com

Selection: Matthew Golden, WR, Texas (March 5)

Analysis: The Commanders’ receiver room could be undergoing an enticing makeover, with the trade for Deebo Samuel being the first move. Golden would be a tremendous addition, fitting well alongside Samuel and WR1 Terry McLaurin.

Expert: Carter Landis, Sports Illustrated

Selection: Donovan Jackson, OL, Ohio State (March 6)

Analysis: The Commanders showed how dangerous they can be if they protect Jayden Daniels. They land a supremely athletic presence up front in Jackson who should help them do that.

Expert: Chris Trepasso, CBS Sports

Selection: Will Johnson, CB, Michigan (March 5)

Analysis: The Commanders stop Johnson’s precipitous fall and gladly pair him with Marshon Lattimore on the outside. Good drafting here.

Expert: Marcus Mosher, The 33rd Team

Selection: Kelvin Banks, OT, Texas (March 5)

Analysis: The Washington Commanders could use more offensive line help, especially with Sam Cosmi suffering a severe knee injury in the playoffs. Kelvin Banks might be a guard in the NFL, but he does have plenty of tackle experience and would fit well in Kliff Kingsbury’s offense.

Expert: Jordan Reid, ESPN

Selection: Mike Green, EDGE, Marshall (March 4)

Analysis: Dante Fowler Jr. led the Commanders with 10.5 sacks in 2024 but is set to be a free agent, so finding a young edge rusher is near the top of Washington’s priority list. Green was the FBS leader in sacks this season (17.0) and his suddenness to race past blockers was seen frequently on film, resulting in the fifth-most pressures nationally (48). With his traits and burst, he’s an edge presence who could play right away. Scouts I have talked to don’t have a consensus grade or draft range on Green, as his projections continue to be all over the place.

Expert: Trevor Sikkema, Pro Football Focus

Selection: Darius Alexander, DL, Toledo (March 3)

Analysis: Alexander showcased good explosiveness at the combine, much like we saw from him at the Senior Bowl. And after grading like an elite run defender this past season, Alexander has shown over the past month that there is more in the tank for him as a pass-rusher. That could be perfect for the Commanders, who are reportedly open to trading interior defender Jonathan Allen. I still like this move, even though they drafted Jer’Zhan Newton last season.

Expert: Brent Sobleski, Bleacher Report

Selection: Omarion Hampton, RB, North Carolina (March 4)

Analysis: The Commanders had a dream season with rookie QB Jayden Daniels. Now they need to heavily invest in protecting who is now one of the most valuable players in football. Josh Simmons is a huge body but is also very athletic. He can run block and pass block at a high level, which is so important in this offense that has such a balanced run/pass attack.
