WINTERSVILLE — After helping Indian Creek to the state tournament last spring, Ty Householder will officially play Division I college baseball.

The Creek senior signed his letter of intent to continue his academic and athletic careers at Marshall on Wednesday morning when the signing period opened.

“Ty is one of the hardest working players I’ve ever been around,” Indian Creek head baseball coach Mike Cottis said. “He puts countless hours in working on the game and is always asking for more knowledge.

“We are so excited for him to have this opportunity to play baseball at the Division 1 level. We know he will be a huge contributor for Coach (Greg) Beals and the Marshall program.”

Householder led Creek last season with a .416 batting average in 30 games.

He was third on the team with 24 RBIs while leading the team with 16 doubles.

He had a .564 on base percentage, drawing 19 walks and striking out just nine times.

In the field, he did not commit an error.

After a run to the state semifinals, he will look to play a big role again this spring during his senior season with the Redskins.
