
The Dallas Cowboys have acquired wide receiver George Pickens from the Pittsburgh Steelers in an NFL trade.
The Cowboys announced on Wednesday that they were sending a third-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft and a fifth-round pick in the 2027 NFL Draft in exchange for Pickens and a sixth-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.
Pittsburgh is parting ways with Pickens after acquiring two-time Pro Bowl wide receiver DK Metcalf from the Seattle Seahawks in a trade on March 9.
Metcalf had 66 receptions for 992 yards and five touchdowns in 2024. In six seasons with Seattle, Metcalf had 438 receptions for 6,324 yards and 48 touchdowns.
Pickens led the Steelers with 900 receiving yards in 2024, when he missed three games. He had 59 receptions, with three going for touchdowns.
Pickens joined Pittsburgh in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft. After catching 52 passes for 801 yards and four touchdowns as a rookie, Pickens had 63 receptions for 1,140 yards and five touchdowns in 2023, when he led the NFL with an 18.1-yards-per-catch average.
The Cowboys’ top pass-catcher is CeeDee Lamb. In his fourth consecutive season as a Pro Bowl wide receiver, Lamb had 101 receptions for 1,194 yards and six touchdowns in 2024.
Pickens has one season remaining on his four-year, $6.752 million rookie contract. He is scheduled to be paid $3.656 million during the 2025 season.
At Hoover High School, Pickens earned All-State recognition in 2017 and 2018 and was an Under Armour All-American as a senior, when he had 69 receptions for 1,368 yards and 16 touchdowns. In Pickens’ first All-State season, the Bucs won their second AHSAA Class 7A championship in a row.
