Mullen replaces Barry Odom, who has taken a job at Purdue after going 19-8, helping the Rebels receive back-to-back bowl invitations for the first time in UNLV program history.

He had a 34-15 record with the University of Florida Gators from 2018 to 2021.

He was 69-46 at Mississippi State from 2009 to 2017 and made eight consecutive bowl appearances.

At UNLV, Mullen inherits a team that is 10-3 and was close to a College Football Playoff spot before losing to Boise State in the Mountain West championship.

The Rebels will be losing some key players as Mullen comes on board, including quarterback Haij-Malik Williams, wide receiver Ricky White III, linebacker Jackson Woodard, and defensive back Jalen Catalon.
