Defending champion SUNY New Paltz picked to finish third in SUNYAC baseball race

Defending and first-time SUNY Athletic Conference baseball champion SUNY New Paltz has been voted to finish third in the 2025 season.

In 2024, the Hawks finished 31-16, concluding with a 1-2 mark in the NCAA Division III tournament. Head coach Thomas Seay was named the SUNYAC coach of the year.

New Paltz opens the season with doubleheaders at Mary Baldwin on Feb. 22 and Eastern Mennonite on Feb. 23. The Hawks play three road games with preseason favorite SUNY Cortland on March 28-29 and host preseason runner-up SUNY Oswego on April 4-5.

Expected to return to the Hawks are all-stars Xavier Zykoff (a Spackenkill graduate), preseason all-American Tommy Kreider, Matt Sarni and Michael Ascanio.
