What Did Deion Sanders Say About LaVonta Bentley?

At Clemson, Bentley played in 40 games over four years as a backup linebacker, recording 60 tackles. His best season came in 2021, when he started two games and posted 30 tackles, including a career-high 13 against Georgia Tech.

Seeking a larger role, Bentley transferred to Colorado and became a starter under head coach Deion Sanders, starting all 25 games over two seasons with the Buffaloes. In 2023, he recorded 67 tackles. In 2024, he added 68 tackles, two sacks and an interception, helping lead Colorado to a 9–3 season and an appearance in the Alamo Bowl—his sixth career bowl game.

Coach Sanders had high praise for Bentley, describing him as having a “tough, physical, warrior-like mentality” and someone who consistently gives maximum effort.

“He works his butt off with every day that ends with a ‘y,’” Sanders said, noting Bentley’s relentless drive and daily commitment.

Sanders emphasized Bentley’s physical style of play and mindset, saying, “He’s going to come play, he’s going to come to hunt.” He also praised Bentley’s dependability: “He’s not going to let you down. I love his attitude, his determination, his fight.”

Looking ahead, Sanders expressed excitement about Bentley’s future: “I can’t wait to see where he goes—great player.”
