The Dodgers were the last team standing at the end of the 2024 Major League Baseball season, and now it’s time for the offseason. Let’s take a look at the roster at the start of the long winter ahead.
Free agency already started on Thursday, with eight Dodgers hitting the open market. The group included outfielder Teoscar Hernández, utility man Kiké Hernández, starting pitchers Walker Buehler and Jack Flaherty, relievers Blake Treinen and Joe Kelly. Right-hander Daniel Hudson and outfielder Kevin Kiermaier are also free agents, but they announced their retirements.
Qualifying offers
The deadline to extend qualifying offers to outgoing free agents is Monday, November 4 at 2 p.m. PT. The qualifying offer is a one-year deal, valued at the average of the top 125 salaries during the previous season, which this year comes to $21.05 million.
Teoscar Hernández is a lock to get the qualifying offer, and Buehler is at least a possibility to receive one. Flaherty was traded midseason and is ineligible to receive a qualifying offer. Players receiving the offer have until Tuesday, November 19 at 1 p.m. PT to accept or decline.
For players who decline the qualifying offer and sign elsewhere, the Dodgers — as competitive balance tax payors — would receive a draft pick after the fourth round as compensation.
With those players now free agents, the Dodgers started their offseason with 39 players on the 40-man roster, but it’s pitching heavy (25 pitchers, 14 position players) so expect some movement to rectify that imbalance. Three of those players on the 40-man roster have 2025 options that will be decided soon.

---|---|---|---|---|---|
Player | Pos | 2025 age | Option type | Option salary | Buyout |
Clayton Kershaw | SP | 37 | Player | $10,000,000 | $0 |
Miguel Rojas | SS | 36 | Club | $5,000,000 | $1,000,000 |
Austin Barnes | C | 35 | Club | $3,500,000 | $0 |
All option decisions must be made by Monday.
Clayton Kershaw has a base salary of $10 million for his 2025 player option, with potential to earn up to $15 million more in bonuses ($1 million for each relief appearance of at least three innings or start from 11-25). The left-hander has already said he plans to return to the Dodgers, so it will be a matter of whether it’s on these terms or if he and the team work out another contract.
Miguel Rojas will have sports hernia surgery soon to repair the torn adductor that plagued him over the final few months. He said before the World Series, “I’m looking forward to play a couple more years.”
Austin Barnes is one of only seven catchers to play 10 seasons with the Dodgers. We’ll see by Monday if he gets an 11th.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto’s contract runs through 2035. But he also has opt-outs, the timing of which depend on whether he has Tommy John surgery or misses time with a major elbow injury. If he stays healthy, his opt-outs are after 2029 and 2031; if not, he can opt out after 2031 and 2033.
Tyler Glasnow’s contract includes a player option for 2028 worth $21,562,500. If he declines the player option, it becomes a club option for $30 million.
The Dodgers hold club options in 2026 on Chris Taylor ($12 million, $4 buyout) and Max Muncy ($10 million, no buyout).

2025 salary arbitration estimates from MLB Trade Rumors
The salary arbitration projections used in the table are from Anthony Franco and Matt Swartz at MLB Trade Rumors. If all those estimates are realized, that would be another $28.1 million in salary to add to the totals above.
The date for players and clubs to exchange salary arbitration figures is January 10, 2025, which usually serves as a soft deadline for deals to be struck.
