The national champions are coming to Durham for the signature game of the annual men’s basketball ACC-SEC challenge, while NC State and North Carolina hit the road for high-profile matchups.
The league announced the schedules for the men’s and women’s challenges Thursday.
Florida visits Duke in a game that pits two Final Four participants from the 2024-25 season. Florida won the national title defeating Houston, which rallied to beat Duke in a national semifinal.
Under first-year head coach Will Wade, NC State got matched with another Final Four participant – Auburn. In a battle of traditional blueblood programs, North Carolina visits Kentucky.
The SEC won 14 of 16 games in last year’s challenge, setting the tone for a dominant season. The ACC’s poor record in those games damaged the league’s reputation all season and it received just four bids into the NCAA Tournament.
It is the third year of the challenge, which replaced the old ACC-Big Ten event. The ACC and SEC tied at seven wins apiece in the first year before the SEC’s dominant performance in 2024.
“This event is circled on the calendar every year and provides tremendous interconference matchups between two of the premier leagues in college basketball,” ACC Commissioner Jim Phillips said in a statement.
In addition to Florida, Duke plays Texas (Nov. 4), Kansas (Nov. 18) and Arkansas (Nov. 27) as part of its non-conference schedule.
Wade has rebuilt the Wolfpack roster in the offseason and has his eyes on an NCAA Tournament berth in his first season in Raleigh.
