I know I’m probably a little too invested in college basketball. I shouldn’t let 18-23 year old basketball players impact my life so much. But, I am who I am. I love this stupid sport which is why I tweeted that at 9:15 this morning. Anyone with a brain who watches college basketball knew something dumb was coming today.
Enter Houston/Kansas. One of the more anticipated games of the day. Two top-12 teams playing each other at Phog Allen. Weird shit was bound to happen. That was an undersell:

This was college basketball. A bunch of dumb shit, a bunch of big plays, but mostly college kids shitting their pants. It’s why this sport is the best. It doesn’t make a lick of sense sometimes and this game did just that. All it took was 5-second calls, shot clock violations, refusing to make free throws. This is how you get ready for March. Not to mention this all happened at Phog. We rarely see Kansas do this at Phog. If this was at Houston, I’d sort of nod my head and say it made a little bit of sense. But it’s what we needed to kick off college basketball Saturday’s.
This is also why you can’t get rid of fouling up late. College basketball is fucking stupid, I can’t stress this enough. But you foul down 6 with 20 seconds to go, you might have a chance! I know it’s shocking to say, but college kids do dumb things all the time. Doesn’t matter if it’s me, you or Division I basketball players. This game proved that. Truthfully, it’s the game we needed. Just a good reminder for everyone what to expect come March.
