Barkley is the second Eagles player to land on the cover of Madden since the video game franchise first started selecting players in 2000. Former Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb was chosen for Madden 06. Barkley, the NFL’s offensive player of the year, supplied Madden with perhaps its most photogenic cover when he leaped over Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Jarrian Jones in a Week 9 win.

Barkley, who boasts a 99 overall rating in the upcoming game, fielded one of the most dominant seasons ever by a running back, breaking the full-season rushing record once held by Terrell Davis. Barkley is the seventh running back to be chosen for the cover, after Christian McCaffrey (2025), Barry Sanders (2014), Peyton Hillis (2012), Shaun Alexander (2007), Marshall Faulk (2003) and Eddie George (2001).
