Week 1 of the 2025 college football season will be Lee Corso’s final show as a member of ESPN’s “College GameDay.” Unfortunately for FSU fans, they will not be headed to Tallahassee to attend the Seminoles‘ game against the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Instead, they are heading to Columbus, Ohio, to watch the Ohio State Buckeyes against the Texas Longhorns. Corso, who starred at FSU from 1953-56, has been a member of the show since it debuted in 1987. His first-ever headgear pick was in Columbus for the Buckeyes in 1996, starting one of the best traditions in the sport. He has picked 430 games using headgear and has a record of 286-144.
While coming to Tallahassee for his final game was great for sentimental reasons, it is easy to see why Columbus was the choice. The Buckeyes are the defending national champions and beat Texas in the semifinals of their playoff run. Both of them are also expected to be among the best teams in 2025.
FSU, on the other hand, is coming off a 2-10 season, and Alabama is also coming off a down year, by their lofty standards. The Crimson Tide went 10-2 in Kalen DeBoer’s first season in charge.
The Seminoles have appeared on “College GameDay” 36 times and hosted 11 times. They are 17-19 in those games and have not hosted since Oct. 18, 2024, when the Notre Dame Fighting Irish came to Doak Campbell Stadium.
