As they say, the rich get richer. That holds true in the NFL world. The best teams seem to somehow continue getting the best players on their rosters.
The Iowa Hawkeyes are often the collegiate program producing those talented players who are contributing to Super Bowl wins. ESPN’s recent mock draft is no exception to that.
ESPN analyst and staple of the NFL draft, Mel Kiper, recently put out his two-round mock draft, and Iowa football All-American running back Kaleb Johnson comes off the board in the second round to a team where he can instantly begin to think of Super Bowl aspirations.
Kiper has the Kansas City Chiefs taking Johnson in the second round with the No. 63 pick.

Isiah Pacheco was out for most of the season (leg), and Kareem Hunt was signed off the street as a replacement. Still, we can’t ignore the Chiefs’ 4.0 yards per carry last season, which ranked 29th in the NFL. No team had fewer runs for at least 10 yards (33). Kansas City re-signed Hunt and brought in Elijah Mitchell to back up Pacheco, but Johnson could entirely revitalize this run game. He ran for 1,537 yards and 21 touchdowns last season. – Mel Kiper, ESPN
The Chiefs have the best quarterback in the NFL in Patrick Mahomes, but when push came to shove, he needed help, as exposed by the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl.
Kaleb Johnson gives Patrick Mahomes that help. He has the skill set to bring a downhill, zone scheme to the Chiefs, which is something that Mahomes has not had a ton of in his career. His ability to get upfield and churn out tough yards would elevate the Chiefs’ offense and solidify their place as Super Bowl contenders yet again.
