One of Florida A&M football’s top players is exploring options to play elsewhere next season.

On Sunday, April 20, Rattlers All-Southwestern Athletic Conference tight end Koby Gross announced that he had entered the NCAA Transfer Portal.

Gross, a graduate student from San Ramon, California, has been on the FAMU football team since 2022 after transferring from Florida State.

In 2024, Gross was one of FAMU’s top targets, with 24 receptions for 257 yards and three touchdowns to earn a spot on the All-SWAC Second Team.

For his career with the Ratters, Gross has 36 catches for 381 yards and six touchdowns. He was on FAMU’s 2023 Black College Football National Championship team.

Gross is FAMU’s second All-SWAC selection to enter the transfer portal during the spring window, joining defensive lineman James Ash.

The transfer portal closes for player entry on Friday, April 25. Teams can still recruit players throughout the summer.

FAMU football has been active with landing transfers this spring, landing recent commitments from former Lawton-Chiles High School alums Trea’vis Jones and Trenterius Lovett out of Coffeyville Community College and former UConn defensive back Isiah Davis.
