Fan Interest in Gamecock Football Reaches Record Levels in 2024

Fan enthusiasm for Gamecock Football soared to new heights in 2024, marking one of the most highly attended and widely followed seasons in program history. For the first time since 2013, Williams-Brice Stadium saw unprecedented demand for tickets and record-breaking engagement across multiple platforms.

Unmatched Attendance at Williams-Brice Stadium

  • All seven home games sold out, a first since 2013.
  • Williams-Brice Stadium operated at 102.28% capacity, the highest since 102.68% in 2013.
  • The 2023 and 2024 seasons mark the first consecutive seasons at full capacity since 2013-14.
  • As the Gamecocks prepare to open the 2025 season against South Carolina State on Sept. 6, they do so with a streak of nine consecutive sellouts—the longest since an 11-game stretch during the 2014-15 seasons.
  • Four of the top seven scan counts since 2019 occurred in the 2024 season, including the Texas A&M game, which recorded the second-highest scan count in program history.

“We have the greatest fans in college football,” said Gamecock head coach Shane Beamer. “When our team runs out to ‘2001’ and sees a full house at Williams-Brice, it fuels us to perform at our best for 60 minutes of great Gamecock football.”

Home game attendance has consistently increased under Beamer’s leadership:

  • 2021: 86.9%
  • 2022: 97.71%
  • 2023: 100.35%
  • 2024: 102.28%

Soaring Television Viewership

Gamecock Football also attracted record-breaking national television audiences in 2024:

  • For the first time in program history, four games exceeded 4 million viewers (previously, the high was three games in 2012).
  • A record five games aired on network television, surpassing the previous high of three in 2012.
  • The Alabama game (6 million viewers) and Texas A&M game (5.56 million viewers) ranked among the Top 50 most-watched games of the season.
  • The Cheez-It Citrus Bowl drew 4.26 million viewers, ranking as the fifth most-watched non-CFP bowl game.
  • ESPN College GameDay’s visit for the LSU game garnered 2.0 million viewers.

Gamecock Football Joins Netflix Series

Gamecock fans will get an unprecedented behind-the-scenes look at their team this summer as part of a new Netflix series highlighting SEC football programs.

“I’ve seen previews of the series, and I was impressed with the quality of the content and storytelling,” said Gamecock Athletics Director Jeremiah Donati. “This is must-watch content for all Gamecock fans and fans of college football, giving them exclusive and unique access to our players and coaches.”

Looking Ahead to 2025

The excitement continues as Carolina gears up for the 2025 season, which kicks off with the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game against Virginia Tech on Sunday, Aug. 31, at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

Last season, the Gamecocks defied expectations, finishing tied for fourth in the SEC after being predicted to place 13th in preseason voting—a bigger jump than any other team in the conference.

“We have great players, outstanding coaches and staff, and an unbelievable fan base,” Beamer said. “With everything in place for success, I can’t wait to see what our team accomplishes in 2025.”
