Stan Son provides his thoughts and insights on DFS options for Monday’s NBA slate on DraftKings.
There are seven NBA games on Monday’s slate.
MIA, OKC, POR and UTA are playing the second leg of a back-to-back.
As for injuries, Jimmy Butler is probable. Ja Morant, Paul George, Alperen Sengun, Amen Thompson, Tari Eason, and Steven Adams are questionable. Domantas Sabonis, Fred VanVleet, Tobias Harris, Jordan Poole, PJ Washington, Georges Niang and KJ Simpson are out. Keep track of all the pertinent injury updates at DK Live.
On DraftKings Sportsbook, there is one double-digit favorite: GSW -12.5 over CHA. There are two games within 3 points: PHI -3 over POR and SAC -2 over DAL. There are three games with a total of at least 230: ATL/MEM (253.5), SAC/DAL (232) and DET/UTA (233). There is one game below 220: WAS/MIA (218.5).

Guard
Stud
Trae Young, Atlanta Hawks at Memphis Grizzlies ($9,600): Young has a red Q next to his name, but he’s officially designated as probable. These teams are 1st and 3rd in pace over the last 10 games. And the game has a whopping total of 253.5! For those of you twiddling your thumbs in the back, that means there will likely be many opportunities to rack up fantasy goodies in this one. Young is the bona fide alpha of the Hawks’ offense, garnering a usage rate of 30.7% on the season. He both scores and dishes out delectable dimes. Young has put up over 50 FPTS 25 times this season with 11 over 60 and two over 70 FPTS!
Other Options: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander ($10,600), Kyrie Irving ($9,500), Stephen Curry ($9,200), Tyrese Maxey ($9,000), Tyler Herro ($8,800), Ja Morant ($8,300) if he plays, Zach LaVine ($7,800), Malik Monk ($7,700), Desmond Bane ($7,600), Dyson Daniels ($6,800), Kelly Oubre Jr. ($6,300), Shaedon Sharpe ($6,200)
Value
Duncan Robinson, Miami Heat vs. Washington Wizards ($4,500): Mr. Robinson hasn’t been starting, but he’s received 32, 29, and 33 minutes over the last three games. He’s out there to space the floor, has chucked up double-digit shots in each of those games, and drained a total of 12 treys. While he doesn’t contribute much in the defensive categories, Mr. Robinson has dished out 5, 5, and 6 dimes. That’s translated to 21.75, 33, and 40.75 FPTS. Now he gets a matchup against a Wizards team that, despite having improved defensively, is still 19th in defensive rating over the last 10 games.
Other Options: Quentin Grimes ($5,800), Klay Thompson ($5,500), Max Christie ($5,300), Caris LeVert ($5,100), Malik Beasley ($5,000), Nick Smith Jr. ($5,000), Davion Mitchell ($4,600), Scottie Pippen Jr. ($4,400) if Morant is out, Cason Wallace ($4,300), Keon Ellis ($4,300)
Forward
Stud
Jaren Jackson Jr., Memphis Grizzlies vs Atlanta Hawks ($8,000): Yeah, there’s a good chance I will be rostering multiple players from this game. JJJ usually ends up in the high-30s to low-40s for FPTS, but he’s exceeded 50 FPTS nine times this season. On Saturday, he stuffed the stat sheet with 42 points, four rebounds, two assists, two blocks, two steals, and five treys, good for 59.5 FPTS. This game should have a lot of possessions which means more opportunities for fantasy goodies. In addition, there’s a chance Ja Morant doesn’t play, which would elevate JJJ up the offensive totem pole.
Other Options: Bam Adebayo ($8,400), Jalen Williams ($8,100), Zach LaVine ($7,800), DeMar DeRozan ($7,400), Deni Avdija ($6,700), Santi Aldama ($6,400), Kelly Oubre Jr. ($6,300), Shaedon Sharpe ($6,200)
Value
Caris LeVert, Atlanta Hawks at Memphis Grizzlies ($5,100): LeVert has played eight games since being acquired by Atlanta. He only received 15 minutes in the first game but, since then, he’s averaged 29.5 minutes, 16.1 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.0 steals and 1.9 treys while embracing the microwave scorer-off-the-bench role. That translates to at least 20 FPTS in six of seven games with three over 50 and a high of 51 FPTS! And it is that ceiling that is unmatched in the price tier. Will he get there? Probably not, but there’s a chance due to the expected game environment.
Other Options: Klay Thompson ($5,500), Ausar Thompson ($5,300), Max Christie ($5,300), Keegan Murray ($5,200), Aaron Wiggins ($5,200), Guerschon Yabusele ($5,100), Malik Beasley ($5,000), Nick Smith Jr. ($5,000), Brice Sensabaugh ($4,800), Duncan Robinson ($4,500), Haywood Highsmith ($3,600)
Center
Stud
Onyeka Okongwu, Atlanta Hawks at Memphis Grizzlies ($6,100): It took a few years, but Okongwu has finally wrestled the starting center gig from Clint Capela, who hasn’t played 20 minutes in a game since the end of January. Okongwu has put up at least 34 FPTS in each of the last four games with a 44.75-FPTS performance last week against the Thunder. Six games ago, he went for 57.5 FPTS! As mentioned plenty of times in this piece, this game should be a fantasy bonanza for many. The price and potential upside are too appealing. Now, if the projected ownership gets too high, then a pivot may be prudent.
Other Options: Bam Adebayo ($8,400), Jaren Jackson Jr. ($8,000), Jalen Duren ($6,900), Walker Kessler ($6,800), Isaiah Hartenstein ($6,700), Onyeka Okongwu ($6,100)
Value
Jonas Valanciunas, Sacramento Kings at Dallas Mavericks ($5,400): Valanciunas could be the most-rostered player on the slate, so it’s definitely something to think about. That said, it may also be the best path and the focus may lie in differentiating somewhere else. With Domantas Sabonis out due to injury, Valanciunas will likely play around 30 minutes. On Saturday, JV received 30 minutes and provided 15 points, 14 rebounds, one assist, three blocks, and four steals, good for 49 FPTS. He averages a respectable 1.29 FPTS per minute.
Other Options: Draymond Green ($5,900), Kel’el Ware ($5,800), Kyle Filipowski ($5,500) if he starts, Guerschon Yabusele ($5,100), Andre Drummond ($5,000), Zach Edey ($4,900), Jusuf Nurkic ($4,100)
