Guard
Stud
Donovan Mitchell, Cleveland Cavaliers at Milwaukee Bucks ($8,200) — The Cavs went on a 17-4 run in the first quarter in Friday’s win over the Orlando Magic. The lead never dropped below double-digits, so Spida never needed to throw on his superhero cape and take over. He sat for over half of the third quarter and most of the fourth. The stats from last night are low, but his rest level is high headed into the back-to-back. Mitchell should play over 30 minutes vs. the Bucks. He may not score the most raw points at guard, but he could be the best point-per-dollar DraftKings NBA DFS pick at his price point.
Other Options — Tyrese Maxey ($9,500), Ja Morant ($9,100)
Value
Donte DiVincenzo, Minnesota Timberwolves at San Antonio Spurs ($4,900) — This is a tournament pick. DiVincenzo is boom-or-bust, and it all comes down to his three-point shooting. If he hits, the pick hits. If he misses, his floor is safe but a tournament takedown will be out of reach. DiVincenzo is shooting 27% from beyond the arc, but that hasn’t stopped him from shooting yet. He’s chucked 37 three-point attempts in five games.
Other Options — Brandin Podziemski ($5,800), Justin Champagnie ($4,700)
Forward
Stud
RJ Barrett, Toronto Raptors vs. Sacramento Kings ($7,300) — His salary is increasing, but not fast enough. If this game were not a back-to-back, Barrett’s salary would likely have increased by over $1,000 instead of $100. Barrett isn’t a typical stud, since he’s not an All-Star. However, he is both a stud and All-Star at this price on DraftKings. Barrett is playing over 30 minutes per game and has averaged 32 points in his last two contests. He scored over 50 DKFP in both of those.
Other Options — Giannis Antetokounmpo ($10,800), Jeremy Sochan ($6,500)
Value
Gradey Dick, Toronto Raptors vs. Sacramento Kings ($5,500) — Is this point chasing, or being early to the party? Dick scored 48.25 DKFP in Friday’s loss to the Lakers and has averaged 35 minutes of work in his last four games. Dick scored over 30 DKFP in three of those four games, with 25.25 DKFP as the low point and 39.5 and 48.25 DKFP in his last two.
Other Options — Taurean Prince ($4,400)
Center
Stud
Alperen Sengun, Houston Rockets vs. Golden State Warriors ($8,300) — His shooting could be better. Sengun is “Jokic Lite” because his shots don’t always fall. The Rockets’ star center is cheaper because of his 37% field goal percentage. When his shots fall though, he scores an easy 50 DKFP. Even when his shots don’t go in, he often cruises to a safe floor of 40 DKFP. Sengun didn’t shoot well in his last two starts, but did everything else that big men do and scored 39.5 and 41 DKFP.
Other Options — Jakob Poeltl ($6,900)
Value
Guerschon Yabusele, Philadelphia 76ers vs. Memphis Grizzlies ($3,800) — A big man punt is always a viable strategy for DraftKings NBA DFS tournaments. Yabusele provides the maximum savings, but is he a dead spot on rosters? His raw points won’t be special but he can easily exceed 6x value. The journeyman big is averaging 19.5 minutes and 18.8 DKFP per game. A 5x value return is not enough in tournaments from most NBA DFS picks, but it absolutely works for a pick with a salary under $4,000.
Other Options — Jonathan Mogbo ($4,200)
