Fantasy Basketball Picks Today: Top DraftKings NBA DFS Targets, Values for October 29

Stan Son provides his thoughts and insights for Tuesday’s NBA slate.

There are four games on Tuesday’s slate. DAL, DEN and SAC are playing the second leg of a back-to-back. BKN, GS and NO are playing Wednesday as well.

This slate will be defined by the value that Golden State provides.

As for injuries, Stephen Curry, De’Anthony Melton and Ben Simmons are out. Andrew Wiggins is questionable. Keep track of all the pertinent injury updates at DK Live.

DraftKings Sportsbook has DEN -7 on the road against BKN. The total is 218. MIN is -4 at home against DAL. The total is 225. SAC is -5.5 on the road against UTA. The total is 235. NO is -2.5 on the road against GS. The total is 217. Log into DK Sportsbook for the updates.

Luka Doncic, Dallas Mavericks vs. Minnesota Timberwolves ($11,300) – You’re walking down the street when you come across a Lamborghini showroom. Too expensive you say, but the salesperson waves you in and says, “Just take it for a spin.” Later that night, the significant other asks, “Why is there a Lamborghini parked in the driveway?” Luka is the goods, as he literally does it all and is a threat to triple-double on any given night. He had a whopping 35.6% usage rate last season and averaged 1.63 DraftKings points per minute. Last season, he put up at least 70 FPTS 31 times! Three of those were over 90 with a high of 101.5! L. O. L. He’s expensive, but he’s well worth the money.

I literally did not change the above from the last slate. Or the slate before that. Thank you, Luka! The game environment isn’t as good as the prior contests because Minnesota is one of the best defensive teams in the league. That said, Luka is defense proof. The only who spots Luka is Luka. I wonder if he talks to himself in the mirror, “You’re not stopping me tonight!” Luka has scored 33, 39 and 34 points in the last three meeting against Minnesota.

Other Options – Anthony Edwards ($8,900), De’Aaron Fox ($8,500), Cam Thomas ($7,700), CJ McCollum ($7,600)

Value

Brandin Podziemski, Golden State Warriors vs. New Orleans Pelicans ($5,600) – Podziemski has played 25 minutes in each of the first three games this season, as Steve Kerr has employed a 12-man rotation. With Curry and Melton out, the rotation shortens up and Podziemski should play over 30 minutes and see a spike in usage rate. He averages 0.9 FPTS per minute.

Other Options – Dennis Schroder ($6,000), Buddy Hield ($5,500), Malik Monk ($5,400), Jordan Hawkins ($4,900), Christian Braun ($4,400), Moses Moody ($3,600)

Forward

Stud

Julius Randle, Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Dallas Mavericks ($7,600) – This game should be a competitive affair, so the risk of blowout is low. Since the opener when he scored 16 points on only 10 shots, Randle has balled out in the last two contests, going for 46.25 and 41.25 FPTS. He’s shown that he can space the floor, but Minnesota has been utilizing his strength more, which is to bully down low in the paint. PJ Washington will likely be defending him for most of the night. While Washington is a good defender, Randle has a girth and strength advantage.

Other Options – Lauri Markkanen ($8,000)

Value

Buddy Hield, Golden State Warriors vs. New Orleans Pelicans ($5,500) – Hield has been the perfect Klay Thompson replacement, drilling 13 of 25 attempts from downtown. Hield has played 15, 20 and 28 minutes, producing 31.75, 46.5 and 21 FPTS. With all the injuries and a massive usage vacuum with Curry out, Hield should play close to 30 minutes and see an increase in usage rate.

Other Options – Jonathan Kuminga ($5,900), Michael Porter Jr. ($5,800), Malik Monk ($5,400), Christian Braun ($4,400)

Center

Stud

Nikola Jokic, Denver Nuggets vs. Oklahoma City Thunder ($11,000) – Scroll up to the Luka Doncic section, copy, then paste below. Just insert Jokic’s name for Doncic. Or I could just do this:

Jokic is the perfect fantasy player. He averaged 1.67 FPTS per minute last season and the chances of him triple-doubling are high. He put up over 70 FPTS 21 times last season with two over 90. He wasn’t great against OKC last season, though, finishing with 53, 54 and 44.5 FPTS, but two of those games were blowouts.

As with Doncic, I did not change anything for Jokic. They are arguably the two best and most consistent players for fantasy. Both can triple-double and break the slate on any given night. In two games this season, Jokic has put up 60 and 65.25 FPTS. There is a chance of blowout, but the way the Nuggets have been playing, that seems unlikely. Jokic and the Nuggets are winless in two games this season, so they should be motivated.

Other Options – Domantas Sabonis ($9,300), Julius Randle ($7,600)

Value

Yves Missi, New Orleans Pelicans at Golden State Warriors ($4,200) – Missi was the first round pick of the Pelicans. He’s an athletic freak but raw offensively. So far, though, he’s played 23, 22 and 20 minutes, translating to 29.75, 22.5 and 19.25 FPTS. He should continue see playing time in the low-20s and will get better with more reps and experience. The Warriors don’t have a bruiser down low, so the matchup should be a good one.

Other Options – Walker Kessler ($5,700), Trayce Jackson-Davis ($5,000)
