Stan Son gives his top selections for DraftKings’ NBA Starting 5 for Tuesday’s seven-game slate.
DraftKings, your paradise of DFS nirvana, has done it again with a new contest called NBA Starting 5. You select one point guard, one shooting guard, one small forward, one power forward, and one center. There is no salary cap. The only stipulation is that you must select players from at least two different teams.
For Tuesday’s Starting 5 slate, there are seven games.
ATL, GSW, HOU and PHI are playing the second leg of a back-to-back.
As for injuries, Luka Doncic, Karl-Anthony Towns, Austin Reaves, Josh Giddey, Bradley Beal, Julius Randle, Stephon Castle, Lonzo Ball, Kevin Huerter and Brandon Boston are questionable. Kyle Kuzma and Bennedict Mathurin are doubtful. Evan Mobley, Norman Powell, Ben Simmons, Gradey Dick, Rui Hachimura, Jordan Goodwin, Derrick Jones Jr. and Ochai Agbaji are out. Keep track of all the pertinent injury updates at DK Live.
On DraftKings Sportsbook, there is one double-digit favorite: CLE -12 over CHI. There is one game within 3 points: PHO -1 over LAC. There are four games with a total of at least 230: MIL/ATL (244.5), GSW/NYK (232.5), CLE/CHI (247) and NOP/LAL (234.5). There is one game below 220: TOR/ORL (209).

Point Guard
Atlanta is playing at the fastest pace over the last 10 games. And they will be on the second leg of a back-to-back, so the environment should be a fantasy-friendly one for Milwaukee. Damian Lillard has put up at least 50 FPTS in two of three prior meetings with the Hawks this season. There’s a good chance he makes it three on Tuesday.
Shooting Guard
Anthony Edwards is coming off a 67.25-FPT performance on Sunday against the Phoenix Suns. Now he gets to face a Philadelphia squad that has been 26th in defensive rating over the last 10 games. For those inquiring minds, Phoenix has been dead last.
Small Forward
I hate this position. Two of the players are questionable while the top three all have difficult matchups. Since I think most will go with Scottie Barnes and Franz Wagner, I’m going with Josh Hart. He doesn’t garner the usage rate like Barnes and Wagner, but he’s a beast on the boards and contributes a little something something across the board. You know he’s going to play a ton of minutes and there’s upside, as he’s put up over 60 FPTS four times this season.
Power Forward
Giannis Antetokounmpo has a red Q next to his name, but he’s officially designated as probable. The floor/ceiling combo is so high because Giannis dominates in so many statistical categories. Now he gets a fantasy-friendly matchup against a Hawks team that has been playing at the fastest pace over the last 10 games. In two prior meetings with Atlanta, Giannis put up 53.75 and 74 FPTS.
Center
If Alperen Sengun plays, then he’s my choice, but he’s listed as questionable and this is the second leg of a back-to-back for Houston. I’m not crazy about any of the other options, so I’ll go with Jarrett Allen. I’ve been staying away from most Cavs because there’s a good chance they blow out Chicago, so the starters will play under 30 minutes. That said, Evan Mobley is out, so that could possibly provide some more big man opportunities for Allen.
