BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Senior Jacob Fickenscher of the St. Olaf College baseball team was honored as the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Baseball Pitcher of the Week on Monday afternoon.
Fickenscher earned the first MIAC Athlete of the Week accolade of his career after striking out 12 over 5.0 shutout innings in game one of St. Olaf’s season-opening sweep of Simpson College on Sunday. The senior held the Storm to two hits and one walk while getting 12 of his 15 outs, including the first nine, via strikeout. Fickenscher struck out 12 of the 18 batters he faced in the 5-0 victory.
The Oles will return to Iowa for four games at Luther College on Saturday and Sunday, March 8-9, with doubleheaders starting at 2 p.m. on Saturday and noon on Sunday.
