Five stats the Ducks must improve upon in 2025 to reach their ceiling

The 2024 season reached highs no Oregon football season has reached, including the school’s longest stretch atop the polls and their first Big Ten championship. So while the Ducks weren’t the ones lifting the big trophy, the season was an unquestioned success and a proof of concept for Dan Lanning and company in their new conference.

The season featured many highs, and of course one gigantic disappointment. This story won’t attempt to fix all the shortcomings that bit the team late in the season. It will however take a look at some of the season’s statistical shortcomings that seem fixable in 2025.

I’ve identified five stats that stand out to me as having been problematic last fall. More certainly exist, but these five feel among the most urgent in my eyes.

I’ve again inserted several charts to help provide context. For all five selected statistics, I’ve also listed the previous nine seasons of data along with the national standing for each.
