The Sun’s Kevin Brockway and Noah Ram discusses Florida softball regionals, Boogie Fland rumors and Florida baseball’s resurgence with the SEC Network’s Nick Belmonte.
- Florida sophomore forward Alex Condon is deciding whether to stay in the NBA draft or return to the Gators for his junior season.
- Condon is projected to be drafted between 20th and 35th overall, potentially going to the Boston Celtics at 28th.
- Florida senior point guard Walter Clayton Jr. is projected to go 21st overall to the Utah Jazz.
- If both are drafted in the first round, it would be the first time Florida has had two first-round picks since 2007.
During NBA combine interviews on May 14, Florida basketball sophomore forward Alex Condon laid out his decision-making process on whether or not he will return to UF.
Condon, who measured at 6-foot-11 in socks and 7-foot-1 in sneakers at the combine, has until May 28 at 11:59 p.m. to decide whether to keep his name in the draft or play his junior season for the Florida Gators.
“I gotta get that almost guaranteed (to stay in draft),” Condon told CBB Central’s Kevin Sweeney. “I know I’m in that 20 to 35 range right now, but you know, I’ve got a good situation waiting for me at Florida. It has to be a good situation for me to stay (in draft), but feedback I’m getting from teams right now is positive and I’m ready to stay in if I need to.”
Condon, from Perth, Australia, helped fuel UF’s run to its third national title in school history, averaging 10.6 points and 7.5 rebounds with a team-high 49 blocked shots to earn All-SEC second team honors.
Celebrate Florida basketball’s national title with commemorative book, posters and other gear
CBS Sports currently projects Condon to go 28th overall, late in the first round, to the Boston Celtics in the 2025 NBA Draft.
Florida senior point guard Walter Clayton Jr., meanwhile, is projected to go 21st overall in the NBA Draft to the Utah Jazz. Clayton put on a shooting display at the NBA combine this week, sinking 21 of 25 3-point attempts during one shooting session.
If Condon and Clayton wind up getting in the first round, it would be the first time that Florida had multiple players taken in the first round of the NBA Draft since Al Horford (3), Corey Brewer (7) and Joakim Noah (9) went within the top nine picks of the 2007 NBA Draft.
